Shumit is a PhD student with the University of Toronto (UofT), doing research at the University Hospital Network – Toronto Rehabilitation Institute (UHN-TRI) from Sept. 2016. His research focus is on respiratory sounds analysis for dynamic changes of pharyngeal narrowing and it’s application in sleep apnea monitoring. He has been awarded the Connaught International Scholarships for Doctoral Students, one of the most prestigious scholarships at UofT. Previously, he also worked as a research student in sleep science team at UHN-TRI while doing his M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering at University of Manitoba from Sept. 2014-Aug. 2016. He completed his B.Sc. in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) from Khulna University of Technology (KUET), Bangladesh. His general research interests are physiological signal processing and digital system design.
